Azureflex Company Profile

The primary objective of our manufacturing operation is the production of bullet and explosion (shrapnel) resistant composites for application as protection of personnel, vehicles, electrical and electronic panels, switchgear, power lines and generators, fuel lines, tanks and other strategic installations which, if damaged or destroyed may result in major loss of production and thus income to industry.

Azureflex ® & Azureshield ® Composites

Our ballistic composite range developed for body armour, first introduced in 1994 is searched and developed in the Republic of South Africa addressing our local security requirements at S.A.B.S. 1658: 1996 level D, C, and B and the N.I.J. 0101.04 and 0101.05 levels II, IIIA and III specifications.
The primary and critical focus on our products are weight and limited trauma. To achieve these results, weight and performance is governed by global market prices and availability of raw materials to meet with specifications.

  • Composite S2003 has the added advantage of being positively buoyant which lends itself to the application of floatation "vests" for Naval use.

All products are manufactured including a trauma pad to protect the wearer from blunt trauma as a result of gunfire and can be used stand- alone without woven aramid fibre products ensuring comfort and cost effectiveness.

Both the S.A.B.S. and N.I.J. standards and specifications allow for a maximum trauma of 44mm, a minimum distance from the edge of 75mm and distance between shots of 50mm.

Azureflex has an excellent record of performance against multi- shots with an equally good record of low trauma. All armour is manufactured to be able to stop and absorb shots up to 10mm to the edge and 10mm apart.
